LUNCH
Is it time for LUNCH yet? Campers must bring a lunch each day. We do not provide refrigeration, so most campers bring lunch in an insulated lunch box with an ice pack. Campers do not have access to microwaves.
Does Fun-N-Sun provide lunch? Sorry, we do not. It is not feasible at this time.
What about concessions? We operate a snack store each morning during snack time. We sell apple juice, Gatorade, Rice Krispie Treats, Goldfish Crackers, chips, and other snack items. Items cost $.50 – $1.00. Please send money in a labeled Ziploc bag or money pouch. This is only available for Base Campers.
SWIMMING
What if my child is not a good swimmer? “Beginner Campers” enjoy the water playtime on site and do not go to the swimming pool. Every “Base Camper” takes a swim test at the Grayslake Aquatic Center and is given a colored wristband designating what areas of the pool they are qualified in which to swim. Less experienced swimmers must stay in the zero entry area or play in the sandbox. We station our counselors in strategic areas in and around the pool to ensure that campers are well supervised.
AGE GROUPINGS AND COUNSELOR-TO-CAMPER RATIOS
How are campers divided into age groups? Campers are divided into the following age groupings: Four and five year olds, Grade 1, Grades 2-3, Grades 4-5, and Grades 6-7. Our counselor-to-camper ratio for Beginner Camp is 1:4 counselor to campers. Base Camp is 1:7 with each group having a counselor intern as well.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
What if my child has a medical condition, will camp staff administer medication? We will do our best to care for your child. Upon registration, you will be asked to explain medical conditions and list medications. Our camp directors will administer medications and counselors will carry inhalers, epi-pens, or other medications with them on all outings.
What if my child has food allergies? Upon registering you will be asked to explain allergies and treatments for them. This will show up on the camper reports. Each morning when you drop off your child they will receive a unique wristband that signifies the camper has an allergy. This reminds all camp staff to watch out for and protect the camper from harmful allergens.
